This conference marks the arrival in the United Kingdom of the special exhibition ‘Genghis Khan: How the Mongols Changed the World,’ designated an ‘exhibition of national interest’ by the French ministry of culture. It explores the interaction between arms, armour and mobility, both in the way in which mobility is balanced in design with other considerations, and in the way that arms and armour can facilitate mobility.
Tickets are £12 including lunch and refreshments.
A concessionary rate of £6 is available for early career researchers (within five years of doctoral award, not counting career breaks) and those enrolled on postgraduate research programmes of study.
In addition, four bursaries of up to £50 are available to support delegates with travel expenses. The deadline for both ticket sales and bursary applications is Monday 6 July 2026.
To demonstrate eligibility and access the concessionary rate; for a full programme of the day with abstracts; to apply for a bursary; or for any other questions related to the conference, contact mark.bennett@armouries.org.uk.
