Forgotten India at 80: The stories you don't know
Part of the national festival of Heritage Open Days.
Believe in Me CIC, in partnership with the Royal Armouries and as part of Heritage Open Days, invites you to explore the often-overlooked stories of India and the Commonwealth, from the World Wars to the present day.
Hosted at the Royal Armouries, this free family fun day features talks, activities, storytelling and community exhibitions. Discover the stories of Indian princesses who supported the war effort, Indian soldiers who served, and the experiences of children during wartime.
Learn how people from across the Commonwealth contributed during the wars and how, in the years that followed, many South Asian families helped shape the communities of Leeds.
Explore the museum, hear inspiring community stories, and share your own at this drop-in event as we celebrate our shared heritage.
Activities will run from 11am - 4.30pm.
Admission is free. Please pre-book your visit.
The museum is open from 10am - 5pm.
Please consider making a donation when booking. As a charity, your support helps us continue offering free events that inspire, entertain and educate visitors of all ages. Suggested donation £5. The amount can be changed or removed on the booking page if you wish.
